Multifaceted Support from CIU for the Nicosia Marathon

Cyprus International University (CIU) provided volunteer referee support for the 14th Ülker Nicosia Half Marathon held this year. The university also participated in the event through a stand set up by the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts and the support provided by Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation students at the physiotherapy stand.

Organized by the Nicosia Turkish Municipality (LTB) in cooperation with the TRNC Athletics Federation, the marathon was held this year under the slogan “Running from Heart to Heart.” Bringing together participants across various age groups, the event highlighted social solidarity alongside athletics. It is planned that the proceeds from the event will be donated to support the families of those who lost their lives in the maritime disaster that occurred off the coast of Kyrenia on August 30.

Bringing together the values of volunteerism and solidarity, the marathon received support from CIU through the university’s academic departments and students. The participation of representatives from different disciplines contributed not only to the sporting dimension of the event but also to its broader goal of promoting social solidarity.
