CIU ranks 141st in Interdisciplinary Science Rankings in the world
CIU ranks 1st among universities in Cyprus in THE interdisciplinary science ranking
According to the Times Higher Education (THE) Interdisciplinary Science Rankings (ISR) 2025 data, which aims to evaluate and measure the contributions of universities around the world to interdisciplinary science, Cyprus International University (CIU) has succeeded in ranking 1st on the island, 7th in Turkey and 141st in the world.
The Interdisciplinary Science Ranking held for the first time this year, is a ranking conducted by Schmidt Science Fellows and published by THE measures the impact of interdisciplinary scientific studies of universities.
CIU Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asil Azimli referring to this achievement of CIU scholars, said, “The success achieved in the ISR list published by THE proves that the efforts made by CIU in academic research, publications and projects are on the right track.”
Pointing out that 1,043 universities worldwide applied to be on the ISR list, Azimli said, “However, only 749 universities were entitled to be listed in the Interdisciplinary Science Ranking.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azimli, pointing out the importance they give to interdisciplinary research at CIU, said, “We have achieved another serious success in the ranking thanks to our 16 research laboratories, 42 educational training laboratories, 12 research centers and colleagues who are enthusiastic about collaborating with faculty members from different fields within our university.”
Azimli said that being ranked 141st in the world in terms of interdisciplinary research is an important achievement. “This success will be instrumental in making a significant contribution not only to our university but also to the image of higher education in the country.”
In his statement, Azimli also reminded that CIU was in the 601-800 band in the world's best university rankings published recently by THE, and said, "We the CIU family are working intensively. I would like to thank all my academic and administrative colleagues who have contributed to our university reaching its current status."
